All about NetFlix

I signed up for NetFlix a couple of months ago, just to see if my friend A and I could get some of the movies for our FMRNS List through them that we couldn't get through the library.

Before I go any further, I have to give MAD PROPS to the library. They have provided A and I with almost all of the movies on our list (270 and counting!). We've only had to resort to Blockbuster or Hollywood Video a handful of times. So, library - you ROCK my FACE OFF!!! =)

Now, back to the point. Thanks to NetFlix, A and I have made it through the hard to find movies on the list. Rather than buying a movie at $20 a pop, we've been able to have 3 movies out at a time for less than what it would cost for one movie! WHOOT!!!! (Not to mention the hours that I have spent watching other things not associated with the list, such as Seasons 1 and 2 of How I Met Your Mother --season 3 comes out next week!!! -- Season 1 of Pushing Daisies, Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe, and most recently, the first season of Project Runway.)

So, because I rock, and because NetFlix rocks, they sent me 4 free month trials that I can give out to friends!! Soooo, if anyone wants to sign up for a FREE MONTH of NetFlix, I can hook you up!!!

I will email the Priority Code to the first 4 people who comment on this post. Please remember to leave your email address so I can email you!! The offer is good until October 31. If you sign up, then I get a "Bonus Disk" and that's freakin' cool!!!

And GO! =)

A fabulous week!!

Sorry it's been so long since I've blogged. Things have just been going really smoothly, and I've been caught up in this fabulous week. I think we left things off on Tuesday, which is just fabulous in itself.

Well, for those who didn't know, it was my birthday on Wednesday!! I turned a lovely 29 years old - though I've been telling people that it was the first anniversary of my 28th birthday. haha (and not because I am afraid of turning 30, but just because I think it's funny!) Anyway, I took the day off work (because iI don't believe people should work on their birthday), and enjoyed the hell out of it. I spent most of my time sitting on my balcony and reading. I did get a couple errands run (like selling my old books to a bookstore), but mostly I just enjoyed relaxing.

Wednesday night, my friend A and I had Bonus Night of FMRNS. We were also stoked because it was the final dance show of Shoobie (aka So You Think You Can Dance). It was fabulous, of course! I would have been happy no matter which of the top four won. After Shoobie, we watched Awakenings, a drama from 1990 with Robert De Niro and Robin Williams.

Thursday, I decided to take half a day off because I have the time and felt like I should. So, once again, I spent much of the day sitting on my balcony and reading. I finished The Last Summer (of you and me) by Ann Brashares, and it was a great book!! She did a great job of telling the story and I really felt for the characters. Thanks to Amanda for the recommendation!!

Anyway, Thursday came and I couldn't not watch the finale of Shoobie without my friend A! So, I headed back over there for an extra FMRNS Bonus Night! We were excited to be able to watch the finale of Shoobie together, since we both thought I would be moved by now. But this is not the case, and we are taking advantage!

For our Bonus Night movie, we watched Silk Stockings, a musical from 1957 with Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse. Oh, the music! Oh, the dancing! It seemed like the perfect movie to go along with the finale of Shoobie!!!

Friday was my normal day off. In the morning, I started doing some packing (getting ready for the move, ugh. I HATE packing!) After I felt I got a nice chunk done, I decided to, once again, spend a lot of time on the balcony just reading. I got my copy of Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer from a friend for my birthday and was finally able to get started on it.

Saturday was another lazy day, though I did do more than read. I had lunch with a good friend (Thanks again for lunch, M!!! We'll have to do it again soon!!!) at the Olive Garden and got to see some pictures from her wedding (beautiful!). After more reading (and finishing Breaking Dawn!), I went over to another friends house for a barbecue with my closest friends in Nashville. It was exactly what I wanted in a birthday party. Very chill, with kabobs on the grill and corn on the cob, and a Bloody Mary bar!!! It felt so good to be just hanging out with them. Thanks to all of you for making it so awesome!!!!!! You guys TOTALLY rock my face off!!!

Today is going to be another fabulous day, to be sure! My friend A and I are going to have a Weeds Season 3 Marathon!!!! We are so excited - we have been dying to find out what happens since our last Weeds Marathon (which would have been a LOOOOONG time ago - when season 2 came out)!!

As you can see - its been an awesome week. I don't know how I am going to go back to work tomorrow!! Yuck.

Boing! Story time day!!

We got a nifty booking video in (little videos with public performance rights that we keep in stock for story time and program use. We like to show a short video based on a book to compliment story time) based on the book called Joey Runs Away by Jack Kent, so I decided that it was time for a Kangaroo story time!! YAY!! Luckily, we have some great kangaroo books lying about the library!!

McGillycuddy Could! by Pamela Duncan Edwards

Counting Kangaroos: A book about numbers by Marcia Leonard (sorry, no pic!!!)

Boing! by Nick Bruel

Tonight is FMRNS!! WHOOOOT!!! I always get so excited for Tuesdays...as you well know. Anyway, tonight we are going to watch The Bridge over the River Kwai, a drama/adventure from 1957 with William Holden and Jack Hawkins. This is one of the movies we got from NetFlix, which is exciting. Seriously, NetFlix is rocking my face off. My hubby likes the show Dirty Jobs, which is on the Discovery Channel. We don't have cable, but we were able to get a couple collection disks of Dirty Jobs from NetFlix! He was so excited!! BONUS points for me!!!

Plus, Mike Rowe is hot...

*wink*

Dexter

Last Sunday, my dear husband and I happened to catch an episode of a Showtime show that they are now playing on CBS called Dexter. If you haven't heard about it, it's about Dexter Morgan (played by Michael C. Hall from Six Feet Under), who is a blood splatter analyst for the Miami Police. He's also a serial killer! (insert creepy serial killer music here)

DH and I were so intrigued by the episode we saw on TV (which happened to be the second episode in the first season), that we decided to go to Blockbuster and rent the first two disks. We ended up watching 8 episodes in one sitting on Saturday - a beautiful March day when we probably should have been outside enjoying the weather. And, of course, after spending much of Sunday wandering around Centennial Park, we decided to go back to Blockbuster and pick up the rest of the season.

We were instantly hooked, intrigued and totally invested in the characters and plot lines. And there really is no better way to watch TV than TV on DVD!! I don't know how I live with commercials, let alone actually having to WAIT until NEXT WEEK to see what happens next!!! *gasp*

Anyway, if you are looking for a new show, check this one out!!!

Oh, and did I mention, this series was based on a book?! I'm definitely going to have to check out Darkly Dreaming Dexter, and the two other books in the series, by Jeff Lindsey.
