I'm so sorry. Don't think of it as failure--just think of it as something that wasn't meant to be. It wasn't meant to be for a reason; something greater will happen for you now because you didn't get this job.
I'm sorry! I know how it feels. I am in the same position. It sucks and it feels like no one loves you, but you can't let it make you feel that way because it's not true. You are a true librarian and you have been doing the job for years and years and know it inside out. They just have something they're looking for - maybe someone who already works there. Something will come along. We have to hope, don't we?
